MUMBAI TERROR ATTACK HORRIFIED THE WHOLE COUNTRY AT ONCE

In this 21st century the mankind is in the grave danger of terrorism, accomplishment and evolvement of a varied terror groups are still challenging the security of various nations of the world. Where on the other hand the whole world is making and preparing strategies for supressing the groups posing threat to the mankind. Yet many times the countries fail to completely defend themselves from the trap set by the terror and are facing the worst consequences of attacks.


In India nearly 205 districts are being effected through these terror groups causing deaths on a massive scale. Terrorism has become a threat that disturbs the peace, prosperity and development of the society, annihilating the properties worth of crores of rupees and creating tensions among the general public.


There are so many instances of terrorism attacks in India and one of most unforgettable one was the Mumbai terrorists attack. It all happened in November 2008 when 10 members of Lashkar-e-Taiba an Pakistani based Islamic terrorist organisation successfully carried out a series of 12 coordinating shooting and bombing attacks lasting for four days . Attacks begun on Wednesday, 26th of November and lasted on 29th of November of 2008 till Saturday killing around 164 people and injuring 308.


On 29th of November India’s National security Guards conducted ‘Operation black Tornado’ to flush out the remaining attackers, which resulted in the death of the last remaining attackers at the Taj Hotel and ended the attacks. Ajmal kasab disclosed that the attackers were members of Lashak-e-Taiba. Kasab trail was delayed due to legal issues as many indian lawyers were unwilling to represent him.


A Mumbai Bar Association passed a resolution proclaiming that no one of its members would represent him but the chief justice of India stated it clearly that he would need a lawyer for a fair trial . Eventually he found a lawyer but he was replaced due to a conflict of interest. on 29th August 2012, the Indian supreme court upheld the death sentence of Kasab.


Kasab filed a mercy petition to the president of India which was rejected on 5 November. Kasab was hanged in pune’s Yerwada jail in secret on 21st of November 2012 at 7:30 am and naming the operation as ‘X’.
